You can’t stop the signal

Last night found me and my friend N. hopping from foot to foot out in the cold outside the IFC, chatting up all the other Buffyphiles who had come out to see the midnight showing of The Buffy Musical Episode Sing-Along – Once More With Feeling!

It was sort of like a much more kindly, chipper Rocky Horror; there was a floor show, there were games, the virgins got sired, we all got wee confetti-spewing poppers for when Tara reached the, er, climax of "Under Your Spell"; N. was a marvelous person to see it with, as she was happy to shout along loudly with the characters, curse Dawn roundly, and sing along to every song. The bitch can actually sing, which is sort of cheating, but forgivable. We then ran into Nightgarden  and MelicitLu – also, I would bet you the contents of my refrigerator and wine rack (ghetto version: top of a cabinet) that the guy playing Spike went to my high school. The Buffy SingALong: the geek town square.

I got home close on to 4, stone cold sober – which is a very interesting sensation – just as the snow started falling in earnest. I walked as slowly as the wind would allow and watched it fall. (Well, OK, I spun around in circles and tried to write my name on every surface I could find. But then, I am six years old at heart.)

One more thing…

If you aren’t watching Hex, you should be. If you don’t have BBC America, find the DVDs. Now. This show just gets better and better with each episode, and the openness with which this show’s writers treat sexuality – both heterosexuality and homosexuality – is refreshing.

Seriously refreshing.

(Oh, and the chicks are all pretty damned hot, too.)
